Hey:)

I’m Caitlyn Brousson.

For my first journal entry here I would like to take a minute to tell you a bit about me, what I want to do for you, and my intentions for this journal.

I’m in my late 20’s living in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. I am very opinionated and have particular taste in all categories, but I’m also very easy going and it takes a lot to ruffle my feathers. My favourite colour is yellow. Not blue, which you might have guessed by looking at my work. I have a business degree and am terrible at spelling and grammar (I just misspelled grammar and had to google the correct spelling!), but I love to write.

I am engaged to my best friend, Sundar (pronounced more like: soon-der), who has bought more paintings from me than anyone else has. I find this both incredibly sweet (he’s one of biggest supporters), but also annoying because that means I didn’t really make money, since my wallet is up, but his is down. But, it also means that, come July, those paintings are going to be officially mine again, so I guess it’s alright. We love hiking and taking advantage of the Rockies here in Alberta.

I was raised in northern British Columbia, Canada, out in the country with thousands of kilometres of crown-land forest for a backyard. I was homeschooled until high school which gave me lots of time to wander, day-dream, and be creative growing up.

My creativity has found its way to painting minimalistic abstracts of mountains and rivers. Sometimes botanicals are thrown into the mix. My purpose for my art is to give people a deep feeling of calm, peace, and of home coming when my work is in their space. This is what I can do for you. Art pulls a room together and completes it. It also sets the mood of a room. Want to have a calming and peaceful mood in your home? One that feels like a true representation of who you are? Yeah, me too. That’s what my art does.
All of the above is what I want my journal to be about. A method of communicating with you what art is all about. How it can impact you. What the rules of art are. When should you break them, because you most definitely should break them. And of course a bit about me and my practice along the way. I used to journal all the time. I have books and books filled with what who knows what, but I haven't kept up with it since university. I'm excited to start this form of journaling and share it with you!
So, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

Have a lovely day:)
